So, next Tuesday we fly to Medellin with a layover in Miami. We have an apartment in Medellin that looks great on the website. The apartment has a rooftop pool which Gustavo is so excited about. On Wednesday, we will go to the orphanage to meet with the director and David's caregivers and then David will be given to us. After ~1 week, we will return to the orphanage to meet with the Defender of Minors (social worker) to discuss how things have been going as a family. After this meeting, the court process will start. This is the variable part of the process as we have no control over how long this process will take. If everything goes smoothly, we could be approved in less than 2 weeks. After our approval (Sentencia), we will fly to Bogota to get David's passport and Visa. We'll be in Bogota 5-7 days and then will fly home. Sohrab will be in Colombia for 3 weeks and then Sanaya (Sohrab's sister) will join us to hopefully help us fly between cites and fly home.
I think that catches everyone up on the steps we'll be going through in Colombia. If I get ambitious later on, I'll update the blog with the steps and milestones we have hit up until now. For now, I better get packing. I hate packing and am having a difficult time determining how much of everything to bring for everyone.

He's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJen - it was so good to see you guys today! Logan kept saying in the car that he wanted to give Gustavo another hug!! I can't wait for you guys to get back, so we can meet David. I'm wishing you all the safest and best trip possible!
ReplyDeleteLori, I'm glad we were able to get together before we leave. The boys always have a blast playing together! Thanks again for the cute shirts. You'll see both David and Gustavo wearing the shirts this summer. We'll get together when we get back.
