I'm going to back up to Tuesday so that I can recollect for myself what's been going on the last 4 days.  I will try to post more pictures later tonight or tomorrow.  Also, I changed the settings so you all should be able to comment on the posts.

We had an early morning flight so our friend Dick picked us up around 4:15AM.  We flew to Miami and had a 6 hour layover there.  Then, off to Medellin.  The flight to Medellin was shorter than the flight to Miami.  We landed at 8PM (time in Medellin is same as MN time right now).  It took awhile to clear customs but we still ended up waiting for our driver.  Our driver, Liliana,  is our facilitator/translator that takes us to all of our meetings and helps translate for us.  She picked up our apartment keys for us, took us to the grocery store and helped get everything into our apartment.  We finally made it to our apartment ~11PM and were pretty exhausted.  We were also excited to be meeting David the next morning at 10AM.

We pick up our son, David today!!  The orphanage, Casa de Maria y el Nino, is very close to our apartment (~15 minute drive).  Liliana picked us up @ 9:45AM and we arrived at the orphanage on time.  We had to fill out some paperwork and then met with the President of the orphanage for quite awhile.  She went through all of David's information with us.  Some of it we knew and some was new to us.  I can't remember off-hand what his current height and weight is but will post later.  She also went over a very specific feeding schedule that had him eating 8-10 times/day.  She also said that David gets 2 baths a day, the one in the morning is a full scrub down and the nighttime bath is his refresher.  She told us that David is crawling, standing with assistance, pulling himself up, and walking with assistance.  We asked if he had any teeth and were told it was a surprise.  She said he is very curious and happy.

So, after going through all of the info, she told us there have been some recent changes that will cause us to be in Medellin longer than we thought.  I'm still confused about all of the changes but it looks like it will affect everyone and will extend our stay at least 1-2 weeks, if not more. It would have been nice to know before we left but I haven't seen anyone else discussing this so I don't think the changes have been publicized yet.

On to the good news, we finally met our son!  His main caregiver, Gladys, brought him in the room.  We were told that he may not go to Sohrab for awhile since he's only been around women but he loved Sohrab! Later, Gladys said that she's been showing him the photo album I sent down and kept showing him Sohrab's picture and would talk in a man's voice when doing so.  David also couldn't stop watching Gustavo either.  Gustavo was so happy to meet David and touch him.  Gladys told us to make sure that we just put him down at night, turn off the lights and walk away as he goes to bed great on his own.  The orphanage gave us prepared bottles and a baby bath tub to take with us which was great.  While waiting for these items, Gustavo was able to play on the playgrounds.  We'll be able to take a tour of the orphanage next week or the following week and then can see where David stayed.

When we left the orphanage, Liliana took us grocery shopping again and also took us to exchange money and get minutes on our cell phone.  David slept in the cart while shopping since he was in the middle of a nap when they brought him to us.  When we finally got back to the apartment, we were able to check it out and start to get organized for our long stay.  That night, we walked a few blocks to a group of restaurants and had some yummy empanadas and croquetas (sp?).  Since we still didn't have a crib, David slept in the stroller and only fussed 2 times.  He went to sleep instantly.  He fits perfectly in the 9 month clothing I brought but we may need to buy more if we are going to be here longer than planned.

I thought I could get through this tonight but want to remember all of the details and am way too tired to think.  I'll try to post more this weekend.  Good night!!
